Abigail & Joshua's Dream Playground
Abigail and Joshua Dunbar set out to learn about leadership in their community with the help of an amazing organization called Future Possibilities for Kids. It worked, the pair ended up on the national news with their appeal for an accessible playground for all children in their neighbourhood. The duo wrote over 40 letters to politicians and community leaders to raise awareness of the need for an exciting and accessible playground in their neighbourhood of Jane and Finch. Here is an excerpt from Abigail's letter to Prime Minister Trudeau,
"I have always dreamed of how much fun it will be if kids in my area had a good place to play. I really want to build a playground in my neighbourhood that is accessible to all kids, even kids with disabilities. I think my neighbourhood should have a good playground for all kids to play. There are no good playgrounds in my neighbourhood or community. All the play areas are mini-parks and they are of no use to kids my age. Not even one for kids with disabilities."
The Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation was inspired by their passion, we have joined Abigail and Joshua in their campaign for a new playground for all children in their neighbourhood. The playground of their dreams has no limits.
Your donation will help Abigail and Joshua reach their goal of a new playground in their neighbourhood of Jane and Finch. The Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation will work hard to match their dedication and effort and the generosity of our community to help make their dreams come true. All funds will be held in trust and dedicated only to playground improvements in this neighbourhood.
